Meet your Inner Forte
Volunteering
is not a duty. You might feel guilty about what you don't do, or when
you are too busy to do more, but at Forte Animal Rescue, you'd be
appreciated for what you do; even if it's one day a month. That one
day you give us is valuable and very much appreciated because it is
already far more than what the majority of people do. Also,
at Forte Animal Rescue, we keep it fun - Our Saturday Adoptions are
like a picnic break, to hang out with great people and our orphaned
dogs! We're a "hub" for people who want to help the animals as much
as they want, when they can.

Here
is a partial list of the various ways you can contribute your time
and passion for animals as a volunteer:
Saturday
Adoptions
Our
adoptions are held at Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies in Mar Vista where
we can always us assistance in setup and teardown. This consists of
crate handling, transportation for the dogs, tent, table and crate setup.
The adoption setup begins at noon, and teardown begins at 3:30 pm. Come
for the setup, the tear down, or stay all day with our cute pooches.
There are usually beverages and snacks, so we just have a great time
with each other while saving the animals!
Walking and socializing our dogs
We
usually have several dogs boarded at our vets and kennels. Most are
in West LA and some are in downtown. Though the vet techs and kennel
staff take great care of our dogs, they get cooped up sitting in their
cages, the dogs would love for you to give them one-on-one attention,
socialization and fun outings.
Fostering our animals
If
you can foster or know anybody that can, please let us know! For the
dogs boarded at the kennel, it's no different from sitting behind bars
in their jail cells, no matter how properly they may be cared for. By
having our dogs fostered, we get to know about each dog much better
than when the dog is kenneled. By being fostered, we can make sure that
the dog is potty-trained, and dogs learn commands, how to walk on the
leash and get socialized with the real world. All of these make the
dog's adoption far more successful.
Being an "Ambassador" for a dog
In
general, an Ambassador is to follow through the dog's adoption process;
from screening to placement. At the beginning, we'll walk through each
step with you. The Ambassador has to make sure that the dog will attend
our Saturday Adoptions and take him/her to the vet when necessary. An
ambassador is NOT financially responsible for the dog. Forte covers
all expenses. If the dog was fostered by someone who is just a foster,
but not part of FAR, the Ambassador is the main contact for the foster,
and when they can't bring the dog to the adoption or the vet, the Ambassador
will make an arrangement for his/her transportation.
